black boy joy comes with black boy discernment. we don't live in the kind of world that lets us lollygag and float around on a cloud. this isn't dragon ball. we have to curate our own spaces where this level of play is possible.
black boy joy comes with black boy discernment. our childlike enjoyment of life can be fatal to our safety if we don't stay grounded. this is what growing up in the hood taught us. it's alright to laugh and joke with the homies, but you must also stay aware of your surroundings in case anyone wants to come steal that joy from you. survival mode.
lately I've been dealing with the balancing of survival mode with enjoying life. we are deserving of an enjoyable life rather than a paranoid one. we don't need to always be in a mental space of survival. we should be in our kingly mental spaces of wealth, growth, building upon foundations, enforcing God's will, etc.
This kind of ties into my last blog post. Because how can we maintain the high frequency that is required for this kingly state of mind? Working out. Our body is intelligent. If we bring it to a physical state of knowing that it can protect us, it'll leave room for high frequency thoughts. If we subconsciously know that we can protect our purest joy, physically, then we have no need to keep survival on the forefront of our minds.
Black boy joy comes with black boy discernment. Know the difference between fighting the system and falling victim. Falling victim isn't only getting shot and killed by police. It also includes focusing so hard on societal limits that you never surpass them. It also includes living in survival mode, ready to fight, but not embracing the beauty of the life we live. It also includes neglecting your God-given talents just to maintain tough appearance. Know the difference between fighting the system and falling victim to it. You can thrive no matter where you are. Your black boy joy is justified. Just work out. Protect yourself by protecting your mind. Give your subconscious a break by eliminating worries and fears. Allow your mind to thrive.
Learn to be and live enjoyably, black man.
